I’m Freaking Famous!!!

I’ve just gotta say, I never expected such a hugh response from this.  I started this thing to first and foremost share my love of baseball and the Rockies.  I sent an email in to the Rockiescast guys with a link to this blog when I wrote about the success of the team being linked to the amazingness that is Spillys beard.  Now, not only have they talked of the fact that I had a mancrush moment about them, but they are telling all of you out there to check me out. Freaking Awesome.  So, to Ted and Steve at Rockiescast, you are this edition’s mancrush!!!

Now on to the baseball at hand.  After a very subpar series against the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim, which is a ridiculous name by the way, the boys have pulled out yet another sweep.  This time against one Matthew Thomas Holliday, oh yeah, the Oakland As were there too.  I still can’t believe the transformation that has taken place with this team.  They are finally playing at the level that I have expected of them for years.  They have never been in the hunt this early in the season before.  They are right there in the wild card, and if they can take a couple from the Dodgers this week, they can be right back in the NL west as well!
Now, to a couple of congratulatory notes.  Aaron Cook AKA the Cookie Monster, has become the all time winningest pitcher in purple.  I know, the Rox ain’t been around to long, but anyone who wins 50+ games is doing pretty good and Cookie still has time to win some more. Brad Hawpe hit is 100 home run right after his alma mater won the College World Series.  Way to go Hawper, 1/5 of the way to a Hall of Fame career!
Good luck against the Dodgers, Boys!
Peace,

What the… How the… Oh my

I have been a Rockies fan since there inception and a baseball fan before that.  I’m the guy who buys the mlb.com radio package to listen to games. (I’m poor so I can’t afford mlb.tv!)  Even if it’s Boston and Yankees, I will watch or listen to the game.  Now, with all of that said, I haven’t enjoyed watching one team play like I have recently.  That the Kid Rox have rattled off 14 wins in there last 15 games is just remarkable.  Things have just started to click for these guys.  Bring on the bandwagon fans!!!!  Denver is famous for them.  It happens every time a team goes far in the playoffs.  Now it is happening in the middle of the season.  I has to say that I think that is a good thing.  Not to long ago, the Rox were in the Series.  With that being so recent, people are remembering that and looking at how well we’re playing and saying, maybe that wasn’t a fluke.  Maybe we have something here.  Maybe…..

Maybe we can actually vote in someone to the All Star Game.  We have at least two guys who should be there.  Todd Helton is swing the stick like he did a few years ago and his defense has never dropped off.  The one with the chinchilla on his face is living up to his ginormous contract right now!!!  Another that needs some serious consideration is that of Brad Hawpe.  Some of my baseball loving friends and I we talking about how this is just a hot start and Hawper couldn’t keep it up.  Boy has he proven us wrong.  I saw that he is number 2 in batting average behind my main man David Wright!   Can you believe that?  How is that not worthy of a place on the All Star list?  But alas, I know it’s a popularity contest, and we are the guys with the tape on our glasses and pocket protecters in our shirt pockets. (I really loved those type of guys though!)
I know that this has been a jumbled mess of nothingness, but that is just how I do things sometimes.  I hope you have enjoyed the time you’ve spent with me so far this season and keep on reading.
Peace

Heres Hoping for a Happy Taco Day

It has been quite a while since I’ve written and for that I must apologize.  I’m watching the Rockies as they just got us tacos for a dollar and I’m asking myself, where has this come from.  For those of you that know me, I really live my byline.  I do bleed purple.  How ever, I am brutally honest as well.  At the begining of the season, I had no faith that the Rox could be even a .500 team.  And as most of you know, I blame this mostly on the front office and the old manager.  I think that those two groups created a atmosphere in the clubhouse that was not conducive to winning.  But now, we have a new manager in the form of Jim Tracy, we are on a ten game win streak, and every one seems to be sticking the ball.  I’m seeing Todd Helton play the way he did four years ago.  Brad Hawpe is hitting at a ridiculous pace.  I just don’t know where it has come from.  I usually expect a small rebound after the change of a manager but nothing of this caliber.  I am started to get excited again.  Everything seems to be falling into place.  Now lets just hope that they can keep it up.
