All Apologies

Photo 25.jpgIn my last blog, I mistakingly called Scott from Rockies cast Steve and for that I do apologize.  And to help make things right, I post this ridiculous picture of me and leave myself open for random funny comments.  And so I give myself a c’mon guy.

The Rockies are still playing fantastic baseball.  They just ended a losing series with the Dodgers but I can’t be mad at them.  The two loses that they have taken have been heart breakers.  In game one, a 13 inning affair, losing on a walk off homer is not at all bad.  Ubaldo pitched spectacularly and the only reason that the boys lost is because of a ridiculous balk call.  In the second game, Jason Marquis pitched disgustingly good.  A 3-0 win against the Dodgers is nothing to sneeze and Jason has turned into a legitimate pitching stud.  First 10 win guy in the NL.  Game three brought Jason number 2 in the form of Mr. Hammels.  He also pitched well, going in to the eighth, but losing 1-0 after a run scored in the bottom half of the eighth.
Now here comes a chance to keep things going.  The next three series are at home and against teams that I think that the boys can handle very well.  The first is against the most hated Arizona Diamondbacks.  God, I hate those guys.  I just can’t think of anything I want to say about them.  Next is the Washington Nationals.  These guys just don’t seem to be able to win.  I don’t mind that since I’m not a Natys fan.  The last team we face before the All Star Break is the Braves.  Now the Braves are a fairly decent team this year but the Rox are much better and I think we could take at least two of three.
I would like to take this time to nominate myself for the beard of the month for June.  As you can see in the picture above, I have a sweet thing going on right now.  Go me!
Peace,

I’ve got a Mancrush!

Something has started to bother me about the Rockies.  We have been getting some great starting pitching, yet we can’t seem to win.  Jorge De La Rosa (The DLR as the Rockiescast guys like to call him) Ubaldo Jimenez have been lights out lately.  But the moment that they give it over to the bullpen, they destroy whatever good that has been done.  What is it about the Rox that makes this happen?  Is it the fact that we can’t ever keep anyone in the bullpen healthy?  Is it the fact that we never seem to have a good bullpen?  I just don’t understand what is going on.  I wish I did.  But of course if I had the money, I would own the Rockies and we’d have K-Rod as our closer and Grady Siezmore as our center fielder!  There are plenty of good pitchers out there still available to us.  Last time I checked, Ben Sheets still doesn’t have a team.  I’m pretty sure he would do long long relief just to get back into the game.

Now, because I love those guys so much, I’m going to give out a Mancrush moment, a la Rockiescast.  And my mancrush is Ted and Scott of Rockiescast.  Those guys just kill it every week.  Make sure that you stop by and check them out.  www.rockiescast.com.
Heres to a good week and a sweep of the Braves.
Peace,

Its Here!!!!

Opening day is finally here.  Braves and Phillies tonight!  There really couldn’t be a much better match up for the first game of the season.  Of course I would love to see the Rockies on national TV for opening night (preferably playing the Indians!) but that will probably never happen.  This is the best feeling of the year for me.  I can’t wait till I can be sitting in the right field bleachers, drinking a cold Coors beer, debating wether there should be a constitutional amendment against the designated hitter and astroturf. (I will give you extra brownie points if you get that movie reference.)  I love baseball and it has loved me.  162 and counting till the post season.  Here we go.  Lets enjoy the season!

Peace out
