All Star Madness
The mid summer classic has been officially completed, and it was an alright one. The Rox had two players there, Jason Marquis and Brad Hawpe, but only one of them got into the game. As my boy Evan said, apparently leading the NL in wins isn’t good enough to get you into the All Star Game. Now I understand it can be hard to get everyone into a game, especially on filled with so much talent, but c’mon guy.
Now on a good note, Hawper go in there and went 0fer but just barely. In the bottom of the seventh, Hawpe got a hold of a ball and it was heading over the fence when Carl Crawford reached up and stole All Star home run glory. Now that was a catch. I ain’t even mad at ya, Mr. Crawford. Gotta love a play like that. Carl was even named MVP of the game for that defensive play.
The first half is over and its time to finish the season like the beginning. The Rockies ended the first half over .500. That is the first time that I can remember. I am very happy with the way things have gone so far. Now lets hope they can keep it up.
Not so much good stuff, but thats what I got.

All Apologies
In my last blog, I mistakingly called Scott from Rockies cast Steve and for that I do apologize. And to help make things right, I post this ridiculous picture of me and leave myself open for random funny comments. And so I give myself a c’mon guy.
The Rockies are still playing fantastic baseball. They just ended a losing series with the Dodgers but I can’t be mad at them. The two loses that they have taken have been heart breakers. In game one, a 13 inning affair, losing on a walk off homer is not at all bad. Ubaldo pitched spectacularly and the only reason that the boys lost is because of a ridiculous balk call. In the second game, Jason Marquis pitched disgustingly good. A 3-0 win against the Dodgers is nothing to sneeze and Jason has turned into a legitimate pitching stud. First 10 win guy in the NL. Game three brought Jason number 2 in the form of Mr. Hammels. He also pitched well, going in to the eighth, but losing 1-0 after a run scored in the bottom half of the eighth.
Now here comes a chance to keep things going. The next three series are at home and against teams that I think that the boys can handle very well. The first is against the most hated Arizona Diamondbacks. God, I hate those guys. I just can’t think of anything I want to say about them. Next is the Washington Nationals. These guys just don’t seem to be able to win. I don’t mind that since I’m not a Natys fan. The last team we face before the All Star Break is the Braves. Now the Braves are a fairly decent team this year but the Rox are much better and I think we could take at least two of three.
I would like to take this time to nominate myself for the beard of the month for June. As you can see in the picture above, I have a sweet thing going on right now. Go me!
Peace,
Bleeding Purple!
