I’m Freaking Famous!!!
I’ve just gotta say, I never expected such a hugh response from this. I started this thing to first and foremost share my love of baseball and the Rockies. I sent an email in to the Rockiescast guys with a link to this blog when I wrote about the success of the team being linked to the amazingness that is Spillys beard. Now, not only have they talked of the fact that I had a mancrush moment about them, but they are telling all of you out there to check me out. Freaking Awesome. So, to Ted and Steve at Rockiescast, you are this edition’s mancrush!!!
Now on to the baseball at hand. After a very subpar series against the Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim, which is a ridiculous name by the way, the boys have pulled out yet another sweep. This time against one Matthew Thomas Holliday, oh yeah, the Oakland As were there too. I still can’t believe the transformation that has taken place with this team. They are finally playing at the level that I have expected of them for years. They have never been in the hunt this early in the season before. They are right there in the wild card, and if they can take a couple from the Dodgers this week, they can be right back in the NL west as well!
Now, to a couple of congratulatory notes. Aaron Cook AKA the Cookie Monster, has become the all time winningest pitcher in purple. I know, the Rox ain’t been around to long, but anyone who wins 50+ games is doing pretty good and Cookie still has time to win some more. Brad Hawpe hit is 100 home run right after his alma mater won the College World Series. Way to go Hawper, 1/5 of the way to a Hall of Fame career!
Good luck against the Dodgers, Boys!
Peace,

Save Us O Bearded One!
Oh bearded one, why have you forsaken me. I can remember well the great facial hair of ’07 that helped lead us to a World Series berth! Now all of a sudden we seem to be getting one extreme or the other. We all live and die with the Rox and they seem to live an die with the great Facial hair of Spilly! Now its just beard or no beard.
So today I’m gonna give spilly some advice to help us along the road to baseball facial hair greatness. Now, just like everything else I have ever written on this blog, this is my opinion, but if you don’t agree you’re generally wrong, but I still like to here what the masses like to say.
So, without much further ado, here are my suggestions to Ryan Spilborghs on his facial hair:
1. Bring back the full on beard. You’re one of the few people in the league that can truley pull it off with some semblance of style. Plus it just might tear our eyes away from the hamster that is growing on Todd Helton’s chin.
2. I’m down with the soul patch. Its classy, simple and easy to maintain. Plus, you can have tons of Denverites growing them in honor of you!
3. Lets take this back old school. There are a couple of facial hair types that will always be remembered with fondness for me. Granted, I’m not really old enough to have seen it, but in the picture, Rollie Fingers has the best baseball facial hair ever.

Spilly, lets see you pull this one off!
4. This is my final, yet favorite option. THE DEADWOOD ‘stache!!!! Bring that back my friend! Nothing is better then a handle bar mustache to bring a team together and to send them to the playoffs!
Any way you cut it, Spilly has plenty of options to make us great. Everyon can enjoy good facial hair. So, please, for me, bring it back!!!!
Peace,
Bleeding Purple
